Greaux after Trauma
When someone experiences a single traumatic event or recurring trauma for an extended period of time, they might begin to struggle with upsetting emotions, frightening memories, or a sense of constant danger. Some people begin to feel numb, disconnected, and unable to trust other people. When bad things happen, and the difficult physical and emotional sensations do no not go away, it may be a sign that professional help is needed. It can take a while to get over the pain and feel safe again, but with the right therapist, you can begin to recover.
I am sensitive, understanding, and mindful of the challenges that survivors face on a daily basis. I help clients safely process trauma and make meaning of past events.
Trauma survivors will never forget what has happened to them; however, with effective trauma therapy, survivors can learn to live with the memories and not be controlled by them.
I have advanced training in evidence based trauma therapies, including, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
